Abstract:The measurement of perceived quantities is of great interest in nowadays world, where man often interfaces with machines through his senses. This works presents a thorough investigation of the jury-test methods for the construction of reference measurement scales and for the subsequent development of suitable measurement procedures. Cross-validation of complementray tests is addressed, for assuring the reliabilty of the results, as well as the importance of test protocols and of operators’ interface. As a support to the proposed methodology, two test cases, concerning automotive noises, are presented in details, showing encouraging results. This study is also intended as to provide support for a standardisation of this kind of methods.
